Agnit'sra

Summoned forth to this realm as a servant.
Bound to the mortal plain by her master's demise.

BACKGROUND

Agni was summoned from the infernal plain by an eccentric Drow craftsman by the name of Ryld A'Daraen, who wished for a servant for his shop that he would not have to pay.

Crawling from the summoning circle, Agnit'sra resembled some kind of horrifying hybrid between rodent and reptile, completely hairless with beady orange eyes that glared up at its new master.

The ugliness of this infernal creature causes Ryld to recoil in disgust, insisting that such a vile creature must not be seen wandering his shop, lest he earn the disrepute of all his clientele.

The creature considers its new master for a few moments before in little more than a flash of fire, the imp complied to his desires, morphing into the shape of a diminutive, naked, female humanoid, much closer to the traditional image of a demon with deep red skin, firey-orange eyes, a long, black spaded-tail and a pair of short horns atop her head, poking out a mop of silky, white hair.

Her red skin was adorned with infernal markings that only a demon summoner could possibly interpret and hope to make use of, should they ever want to return her to the infernal plains.

Ryld was more than satisfied with this new appearance and as much perverse pleasure as he got from staring at the seductive form of his new servant, he knew that he would have to provide her with some clothing and proceeded to craft a tight, form-fitting bikini out of the finest black dragon leather.

With his new servant adorned in his hand-crafted garments, Ryld found more customers than ever were being drawn into his shop. Some simply out of curiosity about the demon servant he had "hired", but many more came to buy his goods.

Agni quickly picked up the common tongue and learned the "Gift of gab", becoming quite the saleswoman with her mix of charm, expertise and looks that scored her bonus points with a lot of men.

She became adept at skinning, tanning and crafting with leather under guidance from Ryld, producing goods of equal quality and finesse, which would soon become useful.

A few years after being summoned, Ryld left the shop to go hunting for creatures to skin for leather. It was normal for him to do this periodically to top up his material supplies and disappear for a few days while doing so. However, this time was different. He disappeared for over two weeks, twice as long as his previous longest trip out.

It was then that a pair of guards visited the leather shop with a stoic look on their face as they looked down at the demon, reporting that regretfully, Ryld's body had been found. It seems he had been torn apart by Gnolls while he was busy skinning a Basilisk.

This was bad news for Agni for a few reasons.

As her master, he was the only one capable of returning her to the infernal plain.
He was the only one in the town who understood the runic symbols on her skin, meaning unless she found someone capable of banishing her from this realm, she was stuck here.

However, thanks to her inheriting many of his talents, she continued to run the shop as before, brushing off the condolences of her customers with a bright smile and a positive attitude.

She kept up her feminine appearance whenever the shop was open, but her freedom from servitude did mean she could switch back to her imp form at any point she liked, which also meant at night, she could curl up in the hearth and let the crackling flames gently warm her infernal body as she slept.

HELLBOUND LEATHER

Before her master died, the shop that she worked at was called 'Ryld's Rather Risque Raiments'.

It was officially registered to the Guild of Merchants as an Artisan Leatherworking shop, and while Ryld was willing to craft things for adventurers, such as leather armour and saddles for their mounts, it was no secret that his real passion and skill laid in his ability to create beautiful and enticing leather gear that could add a bit of spice to the bedroom.

Luckily for Agni, she had learned a lot in the years that she had worked alongside Ryld and was more than capable of producing similar garments which were almost indistinguishable from Ryld's work and because Ryld had little interest in crafting things for adventuring, he often fobbed this task off onto Agni, who became much better at this sort of craftwork than Ryld, resulting in many adventurers asking specifically for Agni when they needed equipment.

With Ryld dead and Agni now the owner of 'Ryld's Rather Risque Raiments', the first port of call for her was contacting the Guild of Merchants and changing the shop name to 'Hellbound Leather' and the registered owner to herself.

Over the next few years after the name change, Hellbound Leather transformed from little more than a seedy, custom BDSM gear shop to a proper artisan leather shop, producing goods for all walks of life.

Stablehands would visit for new saddles, adventurers would visit for new armour or repairs to their armour and of course, the clientele seeking ways to make their bedroom frivolities more exciting would visit to buy custom-made goods.

One thing that Agni was never good at was organisation, so when walking into the shop, finding exactly what you're looking for can be quite tricky, with rows of shelves jam-packed with handmade leather goods with little signage to indicate just where everything is. As a result of this, it became routine for Agni to ask customers what they're looking for and guiding them to the right place personally.

One could be forgiven for getting lost in the maze of shelves and stacks of assorted leather items.

ABILITIES

  • Improved Nightvision - As an imp, Agni is capable of seeing in very dark surroundings as if they are basked in a dim light, and in dim light as if it is cast in bright light. This aids her in navigating her shop, which is naturally quite dark as all light gets blotted out by stacks of assorted leather crafts.

  • Fire Resistance - Having spawned from a realm of fire and brimstone, the mortal flame has no effect on Agni beside a pleasant, warming sensation. Thanks to this, she will often sleep in a fire on colder nights

  • Shapeshifting - Imps have an innate ability to shift into a limited pool of different forms. Agni chooses to adopt a humanoid, demonic form rather than her true imp form most of the time. While shapeshifting into a humanoid is possible, due to an imp's size, the humanoid they shift into will never exceed 4' in height and will always have some demonic aesthetics.

  • Arcane Knowledge - Agni's time working alongside a Drow has exposed her to knowledge of many schools of magic. While she does not have mana with which to cast arcane spells, she is able to enchant items by transferring mana from an already magical item into the item she wishes to enchant.

  • Magic Detection - Not only does Agni have knowledge of the Arcane, she also has the ability to detect the presence of magic on an item or person nearby to her and the category of that magic (Illusion, Destruction etc)
